Vicar's Message – August 2026 | Jerusalem Mar Thoma Church, CT

Faithful in Every Season

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."

Galatians 6:9 (NIV)

As we welcome the month of August, we are reminded that every season of our lives presents new opportunities to experience God’s grace and demonstrate our faith. August often marks a time of transition for many families, as vacations come to an end, students prepare to return to school, and many of us begin planning for the months ahead. In the midst of these changes, God’s Word encourages us to remain steadfast and faithful, trusting that He is always at work, even when we cannot immediately see the results.

The Apostle Paul’s encouragement in Galatians 6:9 reminds us not to become discouraged or weary in doing good. Faithfulness is often demonstrated not through extraordinary moments but through daily acts of obedience, such as praying consistently, worshipping faithfully, serving others with humility, extending forgiveness, encouraging those who are struggling, and sharing the love of Christ in our homes, workplaces, and communities. God sees every act of love and every sacrifice made in His name, and He promises that, in His perfect timing, there will be a harvest.

As a church family, we have much for which to thank God. We celebrate His faithfulness in sustaining our parish, providing for our needs, strengthening our ministries, and drawing us closer together in fellowship. We also recognize that some among us are carrying burdens of illness, grief, financial concerns, or uncertainty. Let us continue to uphold one another in prayer, bearing each other’s burdens as Scripture teaches, and reminding one another that our hope is firmly anchored in Christ.

This month, let us also renew our commitment to being the hands and feet of Jesus. May we seek opportunities to welcome newcomers, encourage those who may be discouraged, visit the sick, care for those in need, and proclaim the Gospel through both our words and our actions. The Church shines most brightly when it reflects the compassion, mercy, and love of Christ to the world around it.

As we journey through August, may we be strengthened by the assurance that God is faithful to every promise He has made. The One who has led us thus far will continue to guide our steps, equip us for every good work, and complete the work He has begun in each of us. Let us therefore press on with confidence, knowing that our labor in the Lord is never in vain.

May God bless us all abundantly as we continue to grow together in faith, hope, and love, serving Him with gladness until He comes again!

With love and prayers,

Rev. Christopher Phil Daniel
